Kid-Friendly Portland-Area Pizza Joints

Ah, pizza. The great equalizer. It appeals to kids and adults alike. You can customize it the way you like it. You can eat it with your hands. And most importantly, it just tastes good. Especially in Portland. But where to go with kids in tow? Here are some of our favorite kid-friendly pizza joints.

Mississippi Pizza. This North Portland spot is a great choice for a quick bite to eat with the kids. You can choose your slice and be eating it within minutes. And if you time it right, you’ll also be treated to kid-friendly music from the likes of Red Yarn, Mo Phillips, and Tallulah’s Daddy. Gluten-free and vegan options are available. 3552 N. Mississippi Ave., Portland

Pietro’s Pizza. You won’t hear complaining about the wait time for food if you take your kids to Pietro’s. Part pizza parlor, part family fun center, your kids will be entertained from the moment they walk in the door. If you head to the Beaverton location, you’ll even treated to a pirate-themed décor, including two 40-foot pirate ships! Locations in Beaverton, Milwaukie, Hood River, and Salem

Out of This World Pizza. Your kids can get their pre- or post-pizza energy out at Out of This World’s 23-foot high play structure, filled with slides and obstacles. You can also find a glow-in-dark rock crawl, inflatable obstacle course, and kid-powered cars and trucks. Their game room is also fully stocked, with retro classics and active-play games. Another bonus: the restaurant features a pizza and salad buffet, so once you’ve worked up your appetite, you won’t have to wait long to eat. 6255 NW Century Blvd., Hillsboro

John’s Incredible Pizza. The all-you-can-eat buffet includes pizza, pasta, sides, soup, salad and much more, which you can enjoy in one of the restaurant’s themed dining rooms (think cartoons, sports, and outer space). You’ll also find arcade games, rides, bumper cars, a laser maze, and plenty of other options for keeping your kids busy and happy. 9180 SW Hall Blvd., Beaverton

Pronto Pizzeria and Kitchen. Try delicious thin-crust pizza, or order from their extensive kid-friendly menu, which includes a snack plate, baked chicken, mac and cheese, and meatballs. If you come on Monday, you can get a free 2-topping kids’ pizza with the purchase of a large pizza or equivalent meal. When your kids start getting wiggly, head to the play area, which includes Brio tracks and a kid kitchen. Read our full review here. 16050 SE 82nd Dr., Clackamas

Flying Pie Pizzeria. If you like lots of toppings—and we mean LOTS OF TOPPINGS—this is the spot for you. The pizza takes a while to come out (you can expect to wait at least twenty minutes), but you can stay occupied with a small selection of arcade games, or board games that you can play at your table. Locations in Portland, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, and Gresham

Pizza Jerk. Tommy Habetz, the force behind Bunk sandwiches, brings top-notch pizza to the Cully neighborhood in his family-friendly dining establishment. Although they were offline for a bit due to fire damage, they’re now back and better than ever. Order at the counter at this spot, a sure-fire way to get their wood-fired pizza pronto. There’s even a small kid area and Simpsons arcade game. 5028 NE 42nd Ave., Portland

Gladstone Street Pizza. You’ll get more than just delicious pizza at this neighborhood pizza parlor. Kids will enjoy the coloring books and games. You’ll love the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. On nice days (remember those?) take your pizza outside and enjoy it on their large patio. 3813 SE Gladstone St., Portland

Blackbird Pizza. You can dine in or take out at this Hawthorne joint. But with a large arcade upstairs stocked with lots of vintage machines, your kids will probably want to dine in. The by-the-slice options are great for families with different food preferences and restrictions (they do carry gluten-free and vegan options). 1935 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Portland
