Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service
How do we honor the words, actions and leadership of Martin Luther King Jr? He changed this country in a powerful way — teaching people that their voice matters and that standing up against injustice is important. He taught us how to use peaceful protest and how stand strong and unflinchingly against hate. What has emerged to honor his legacy is a day of community action where people come together to serve one another and to improv and restore the city that they live in.
We’ve culled local events and service opportunities together to help our readers find opportunities to join in. PDX Parent has also put together our PDX Parent Cares Volunteer Weekend January 20-21 in order to both extend the movement and honoring of Martin Luther King Jr as well as to meet the inaugural weekend with positive, loving action and energy.
