Portland Arts and Crafts Studios

Get out of the rain and have some indoor creative fun! Below you’ll find a list of some of our very favorite venues to make art with your little one (or even by yourself).   We’ve collected paint-your-own pottery places, recycled craft classes, messy art, and lots more. Prices are subject to change; check studio websites for the most up-to-date information.

North Portland Art Studios

The Craft Factory
The Craft Factory is a drop-in arts and crafts studio, where your child can make an open-ended piece of art with unlimited time (during studio hours). They also host birthday parties and other events. You can also pick up a craft to-go, with everything you need to make a fabulous piece of art at home.

Cost: $6-$14 for one project, $2 off your first visit. Toddler Time Bases are 3 for $8.

Northeast Portland Art Studios

Creative Culture Studio
Creative Culture Portland serves up gourmet milkshakes with your DIY projects. Kids and adults alike will love crafting in this beautiful studio, where you can work on a variety of projects from painting on canvas to potting plants at the plant bar.

Owl & Bee Clay Co.
Owl & Bee Clay Company is a clay studio for kids (and sometimes adults). Clay classes are sold in 10-class blocks. They also offer art camps and parties, plus adult happy hour.

Green Bean Books
This enchanting bookstore offers book-related arts & crafts activities several times throughout the month, and in connection with most author signings.

Northwest Portland Art Studios

Portland Child Art Studio
Sign up for classes, kept to a maximum of 6-8 kids per class, ages 3+. They also host parties, including 1.5 hours of art activities. They do not offer open art studio at this time, though they do offer drop-in classes available each week, for the current week.

Art World School
Art World School offers in-person and online fine art classes, after school programs, birthday parties and camps.

Whimsy Wees Art Studio
Opening Spring 2023! Check out an Imagination Station set up with various art supplies during open studio. Whimsy Wees offers time slots for Wees (5th grade and younger) and Teens (6th grade and up), plus birthday parties, classes and camps.

One River School

SCRAP PDX
Specializing in recycled crafts, SCRAP PDX is a great place to pick up supplies or to stop in for one of their kid-friendly workshops. Ages 6 and up for classes.

Southeast Portland Art Studios

Awake Coffee & Art
Drop in art studio with coffee, tea, and dining. They host weekly story and art for kids at $8/class. They also offer parties.

Venvino Art Studios
Open art sessions with a variety of projects including painting, glass painting, clay hand-building, string art, card making and more. They have a story time and craft on select weekday mornings. There’s a kids play area, toys and high chairs, and weekly art lessons for kids ages 5-18, plus camps.

Children’s Healing Art Project (CHAP)
CHAP offers an art club every Thursday for any child with a medical challenge. Siblings are invited too! Art Club takes place every second Thursday of the month via zoom, and the rest are  in-person at the magical CHAP studio in Sellwood.

Cost: Free of charge to children, teens and families affected by pediatric illness, disability or special need. Art Workshops are also open to the public for a reasonable fee.

Ceramicafe
A paint-your-own pottery studio with locations in Clackamas, Lake Oswego, and Beaverton.

Live Laugh Love Art
Live Laugh Love Art offers drop-in studio time and workshops and classes. During open studio, kids and adults can choose from canvas painting, ceramics painting, glass fusing, glass blowing, candle making, or painting a sign. All ages welcome, including children 5 and older for glass blowing.
