Portland Indoor Play Spaces

Ah, Portland. There might be some sun every now and again, but we can certainly count on the rain.  If your kids are itching to be active on a rainy day, head indoors to one of the many indoor play spaces or pools around town.

As always, double-check details on the play space websites, as they are subject to change. The cost estimates are based on information available at the time of this writing. Most indoor place spaces require socks, and some require grippy socks. Many require signed waivers before participation.

Southwest

Dig PDX
From the team that brought beloved LEKA Playland, comes Dig PDX, Oregon’s largest indoor sandbox! You’ll find dinos and construction vehicles in this indoor venue full of 100% natural, non-toxic sand. You can even bring outside food (but no common allergens, including nuts). They sell drinks, snacks, merch, and alchoholic beverages.
Cost: $16 per child, with no time limit, walk-ins only. Subject to change. Discount punch cards available, LEKA punch cards can be used.

Ages: 0-6 between 9a-3p, ages 0-12 between 3-5pm, daily. On Sundays they’re open until 6 pm. There’s a special sand-free baby area for infants.

Happy Baby Play
The NEW Happy Baby Play studio in Beaverton is not just for babies! They offer yoga classes (including parent + child) for all ages, and their open play sessions welcome kids of all ages (though ages 8 and under will enjoy it the most). There’s a cozy cuddles corner for infants and toddlers, pretend play opportunities in a Montessori style, a sensory play space (sand, for example), and a gross motor jumping zone.
Cost: Free for 0-5 months, $18 for children (two adults free), and $20 for an all day pass.

LEKA Playland
With natural toys in the style of Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia philosophies, LEKA Playland is a beautiful space to relax while your children play. They host lots of special events (they sell out quickly so reserve early), and have both indoor and outdoor play areas, with ice cream on hot days. Enjoy the coffee station and fast free wi-fi.
Cost: $16 for 8 months-5 years, walk-in only (no reservations). Special events are priced individually and do require registration.

PILEA Play
PILEA is a welcoming place for children of all abilities, backgrounds and identities. Each area of PILEA Play is thoughtfully curated by educators to target all areas of development, to help children find stories, connect with one another, and build their sense of identity and community. They not only have a fun and educational place space, but they also host playgroups, special events (including kindie concerts!) and private rentals.
Cost: You may pay a drop-in rate of $16 or buy a monthly membership.

Ages: Designed for 0-6, but they welcome older children who can be mindful of the younger ones.

Outdoors In Park @ The Plaza
Outdoors In is a fun place to hang out that’s active and out of the weather. This new kind of park experience — indoors — features fun for all ages with 3,800 square feet, a full-size playground, a 16′ bouldering wall and Neos (an interactive, whole-body gaming system for kids and adults). Bring the outside in for a fantastic fun time! Look for their sensory sensitive play hours, and staff led activities on their website.

Ocean Plays
Play structure with slide, ball pit, and foam-ball air cannon with small snack bar, party room, seating and tables for adults, and free WiFi.

Liggle Land
Four levels of structure play, with a separate area for toddlers. Cafe and virtual reality arcade on site.

Kowabunga Indoor Playspace
Indoor play space created for toddlers in Beaverton. They can play without being jostled by bigger kids, and you can relax!

Tigard Indoor Play Park at Tigard United Methodist Church
After over two years of a pandemic hiatus, this beloved indoor play park is back! Their hours are limited (currently Tuesdays and Thursdays), but they plan to expand in the future. Check their website for the latest schedule.
Cost: $5 for first time, $7 per child drop-in, $12 for a family (up to 3 kids). Punch cards available.

Cedar Hills Recreation Center Indoor Play Park
Cedar Hills provides wide array of toys and equipment for children newborn through 6 years and a safe spacious place for children to interact and work on social and motor skills. Hours of operation vary; see schedule here. As of this writing, the play gym is open from 10:00 am-12:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, fall, winter, and spring. This year it will close for the summer on May 23, 2024.
Cost: $5-$7 per child

Ages: 6 weeks to 6 years in the indoor play sessions.

Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center
Indoor Play Park includes slides, bikes, balls, and play structures in an indoor setting. Indoor pool is also available, and a new slide was added October 2022. The play park is open Monday-Friday, from 9:30 am-11:30 am, as of this writing.
Cost: $5-$7 per child

Ages: 6 months-6 years for the indoor play park. Call the center (503-629-6313) to learn about any changes to the play park schedule. Check the website for Open Swim, and Family Swim schedules weekly.

Indoor Playground, Mittleman Jewish Community Center Sportsplex
Play in a climate-controlled Sportsplex! Indoor playground offers babies, toddlers and preschoolers a wonderful indoor play opportunity and a chance for adults to meet and mingle. The playground is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., as of this writing.
Cost: Free for members, $12 for non-members. Their Chai Baby Indoor Playground is open once a month, and is free to both member and non-members.

Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC)
Aquatics including three pools, a spa pool, dry sauna, and water exercise classes as well as a full complement of  group fitness classes and recreation amenities on land.
Cost: Free-$8, based on age and address. Family passes available for $15-$19.

Play Boutique
An innovative, family “edutainment” destination for both parents and their children birth to 10 years, combining education & entertainment experiences equally focused on children and their parents. The modern amenities are presented in a sophisticated fashion with a children’s play space at the center of it all. Their Beeztro Café is full of healthy, delicious food for parents and kids alike.

Westside Dance and Gymnastics Academy
The indoor play park features lots of gymnastics equipment, plus a ball pit, bounce house and even a zip line. See their website for drop-in indoor play park days and hours.

Spectra Gymnastics
Spectra offers tiny tots playgroups, kinder prep, fostering friendships & tweens and more at their Beaverton gym. They welcome neuro-diverse children.
Cost: Varies, based on which program you choose.

Oregon Gymnastics Academy
Register for open play indoor park, spaces limited. Children 6 and under must be accompanied on the floor by a parent or guardian. Parents of children over 6 may watch from the viewing area upstairs.

My Gym Sherwood
My Gym Sherwood offers programs, camps, events and parties. You must register for classes and events, no walk-ins available.

Omega Gymnastics
Omega offers drop-in gym, classes, camps and parties. They also offer Parent’s Great Escape for ages 5-12, perfect for date night. Register online for their open gym, one guardian admitted with child admission.

The Movement Park
The Movement Park, a parkour gym in Hillsboro, offers classes, after school care, day camps, parents night out, parties and more.

Playstreet Museum
Join for 1.5 hour play sessions for ages 1-8 (space best suited for toddlers). No food allowed on site, but you’re welcome to bring your coffee. Free wifi, and an adorable play space.
Cost: $14.50 for ages 1-8. Younger or older children are free if accompanied by a paying sibling.

The Monkey King Play Palace
A fun play structure for children with a full cafe, and party rooms. The Junior Tag Arena is their second play structure for older kids, with targets activated by a special RFID wristband.
Cost: $20 for all day admission for a single structure, $30 all day both structures. Crawlers under 12 months are free.

Defy Extreme Air Sports
This trampoline park is a blast for older children. Kids can play dodgeball and basketball, ride the zip line, play on the aerial silks, jump in foam pits and basically live out their Ultimate Ninja Warrior dreams. See our reel on Instagram for more details about the experience.

Ages: All ages are welcome, but kids 4 and under may feel overwhelmed by all the big kids jumping around them. Ages 13+ may attend without a chaperone.

Nest Playground
Nest Playground offers a large play structure, rock climbing wall, soft play structures, a space for toddlers/wobblers, café and lounge with free wifi, plus classes onsite in their dance studio and classroom.
Cost: Play pass is $12, as of this writing.

The Children’s Gym
Children crawling and up are invited to come and play during open gyms.
Cost: Open play pass is $15 for one child, $7 for additional sibling, for non-members, as of this writing.

NE Swap and Play
Non-profit indoor play space for families. They offer pay-per-visit playtimes and memberships. Entry fee includes a chance to “shop” in their free swap shop, where families can take or leave gently used children’s items like clothes, toys, books and gear.
Cost: Three month memberships are available at a tiered admission rate of $20/$30/$40 per month; choose the rate your family can afford. They offer free trade memberships to anyone who volunteers 2 hours or more per month, and reduced cost memberships for families in need.

Ages: Best suited for toddlers and young children, but all are welcome.

St. Johns Swap-n-Play
This neighborhood nonprofit community is more than just a place to play — they offer two swapping rooms full of books, toys, clothes, gear and more, promoting environmental and economic sustainability. They also provide opportunities for outdoor play, events, classes, parent groups, and more! They partner with other organizations on large-scale community projects for Portland the community.
Cost: A one-time $25 join fee, then a sliding-scale monthly membership ranging from $20-$50 per month for unlimited play, with low-cost options for qualifying families.

City Play for Kids — Vancouver
Indoor playground focused on play and imagination, with children’s museum vibes. Socks required, grippy socks encouraged.
Cost: $15 per child ages 1-8, 1.5 hour open play session, no reservations required. Up to 2 adults admitted free.

The Wiggle Room
The indoor play space is a 2,000 square foot space and includes a dedicated safe, padded floor for your little ones to enjoy, and a 16′ x 20′ play structure. A separated area for little ones under age 2 is available. Private play sessions available for purchase. Full service coffee, beer, wine and beverages, plus packaged snacks and meals available.

Wippersnappers
The play center has slides, structures, climbing walls and more. A cafe allows parents to grab a cup of coffee while the kids play.
Cost: $15 for a two-hour session, $16 for walk-ins.

Sky Zone Gresham
The Vancouver location of Sky Zone has been a popular birthday spot, so Southeast Portland residents can rejoice that the popular chain just opened a new gym in Gresham. Slightly smaller than the Vancouver location, it packs in plenty of fun activities including bouncy basketball courts, a dodgeball venue, a gated toddler zone, freestyle jmp area, and king of the hill battle are. The zip line, free jump, and obstacle course are staff kid favorites. Pro tip: Order concessions before you get hungry, as the wait can be long. Jump socks required and available for purchase.
Cost: Monthly membership is $32.99 per kid, with $9.95 parent add-on, which is more affordable than all-day, one-time admission, which is $38.99.

Ages: Older kids will feel most comfortable, but 4 and under receive reduced admission and toddlers can enjoy the gated zone.

Hammer + Jacks The Happy Place
This colorful new place space brought to you by beloved local toy store Hammer + Jacks is best suited to kids ages 1-7, though all are welcome. Wifi is available for parents who need to get some work done while their little ones explore. A maximum of 12 kids are allowed in the playroom.
Cost: $5 per child, $20 for a 5 session punch card, $40 for a 10 session punch card. No time limit, but no reentry. Babes in arms are free if they won’t use the play space.

Ages: Best for 1-7, all welcome. Maximum capacity 12 children.

The Monkey King Play House
A fun play structure for children with a full cafe, party rooms, events and lessons. Ping pong tables available, too. Massage chairs available while the children play.
Cost: $18 for all day admission. Children under 3 are half price on Wednesdays, as of this writing. Crawlers under 12 months are free.

Southeast Indoor Park
Provides opportunities for children to socialize in a group setting, make friends, play in a large, open, dry space and experiment with new and different toys.

Sellwood Community House
Mingle with other families while your children play in a beautiful vintage gymnasium. There are fun cars to ride, games to play, and an imagination playground to build. Check their website for times their indoor play park is open, typically weekday mornings.

Raindrops Playhouse
This new play space in Happy Valley has no time limits, and includes a fun colorful structure for children to explore. Separate toddler play area available, drinks and snacks for purchase. Plenty of places to climb, slide and play! Grip socks required.

PLAYFOREST Kids

Happy Play
Happy Play in North Plains, OR, offers five interactive play homes and a large swirl slide. Parents can grap a cup of coffee and a pastry at the in house cafe area. They proudly serve Dapper & Wise coffee.
Cost: $15 per child (includes 2 adults or 1 adult + 1 sibling under 10 months), 2 hour play windows. Weekends by reservation only, weekdays they offer walk-ins. At least one paying child per family, even if the child is under 10 months. Punch cards available with up to 20% in savings.
