Green Bean Books presents children’s book authors and illustrators reading and talking with kids about their works:
Shannon Joy, author of The Perfectly Imperfect Llama. Come out and meet Rojo the Llama, a therapy animal who goes into nursing homes, schools, and hospitals enriching the lives of all who meet him!
Cathy Camper, author of Lowriders to the Center of the Earth
Brian Parker, publisher at Believe in Wonder and author of Crow in the Hollow and YOU CAN RELY ON PLATYPI.
There will be bookmark-making and a book giveaway at the Multnomah County Library table, and arts and crafts with Smartypants and PDX Parent. Imagination Yoga will start the day at 9:30 a.m. with an all-ages yoga session.
Cost: Free with a donation of new shoes, socks or books for kids in need.
Location: King School Park at 4906 NE 6th Avenue(just south of Alberta and east of MLK) in Portland.
This is always an amazing day that celebrates music and literacy in the Portland community while helping those in need.
In the past three years, Rox and Sox volunteers have collected 3,205 pairs of socks, 1,519 books and 220 pairs of shoes for children who need them in Portland, Kenya & Jamaica.
