Harmony Road Music Courses offer innovative group piano musicianship programs for all ages – tots to adults. Our unique teaching techniques and materials bring students to music “step by step” by utilizing the dynamics of group interaction through our music lesson instructional programs and curriculum.

The Harmony Road group method is a research-based internationally recognized group lesson program. It features ear training, movement, solfege singing, keyboard playing, rhythmic activities and creative projects.

Toddler Tunes

harmony_toddlertunesAge Range: 18 months – 3 years
Course Length: 18 week sessions (30 Minutes each). Offered Twice a year. Toddlers can enroll at any time during the course.

A joyful first music experience. Tots and parents share in a music-making program of rhythms, finger plays, active movement, keyboard exploration and singing.

Hello Music

Course Length: 4 week sessions (45 minutes each). Currently offered in January, June, July and August.

Hello Music offers an introduction to solfege singing, movement, rhythm, keyboard playing, and creative activities. This program gives the child a strong readiness for continued musical involvement. Parents share in class time.

Music In Me

Course Length: 16 week sessions (45 Minutes each). Currently Offer Twice a year. Music In Me is Open Enrollment.

Music in Me is a dynamic readiness program for young children with emphasis on ear training, solfege singing, movement, keyboard activities, pitch and rhythm awareness. Creativity is stressed. Parent involvement in class and at home.

MusicTime

Age Range: 4 1/2 -6 years
Course Length: 4 week sessions (45 minutes each). Currently offered in January, June, July and August.

Musictime offers an introduction to solfege singing, movement, rhythm, keyboard playing, and creative activities. This program gives the child a strong readiness for continued musical involvement. Parents share in class time.

Harmony Road

Course Length: 55 minutes weekly /20 Week Semesters/2 Year program. New Classes start twice yearly.

The Harmony Road course is carefully constructed for children to learn the basic building blocks of music. Emphasis is on ear training, solfege singing, keyboard solo and ensemble playing, ensemble and rhythm activities, movement and music creativity. This exceptional course encourages the development of the “inner hearing”, which makes transposing, improvisation and composing easily accessible in their musical studies. Parent involvement in class and at home.

The Young Musician

Course Length: 55 minute sessions /20 Week Semesters/2 Year Program. New Classes start twice yearly.

The Young Musician course introduces beginning students to keyboard performance and note reading in a holistic program, including the organized development of pitch, rhythm, solfege singing, keyboard and movement activities. As students advance they experience composing and lyric writing. Students eventually create their own arrangements. Parent involvement in class and at home.

Keyboard Prep

Course Length: 55 minute sessions /20 Week Semesters) 1 1/2 Year Program. New Classes start twice a year.

The Keyboard Prep course is designed for children ages 8 through 10 who are studying music for the first time. This motivating program develops the student’s basic musicianship skills through ear training, solfege singing, keyboard solo and ensemble performance, composing and arranging. A strong program to build self-confidence and music skills. Parent involvement encouraged.

The Harmony Road Music Course Program was created by Jan Keyser who spent 30 years as a teacher and teacher trainer for Yamaha Music Education Systems. In 1981 she developed the first books in the Program. At present there are 26 books in the curriculum series.

The first schools were launched in the Portland area in the early 1990’s. Including the United States, the Harmony Road Program is taught in 150 locations in 9 countries.
